dready from the road
working while you travel is not easy, but the ability to do so is a blessing … the freedom to be where you want to be, doing what you want to do and working as well when you need to.
you can be sitting in a cabin in oppdal working away as if you were in a borrowed house in victoria or behind your desk at home - the connectivity of the modern world!
you might have to drive down the road to the co-op or the local library and find the internet, but ya know, that's cool in itself, 'cause there you are half way round the world doing something as if you were home-ish ...
i used to travel and fax, you could always find a fax even at the edges of the wilds of this place and that.
then had a fax application on my computer, so I didn't need a fax only a phone line …
then dial up internet … I used to have to carry a splitter with a filter in it, with me, to plug into the phone line, so that the computer could use the phone.
So there you were, in some place like flores, guatemala, by the lake at the end of a road, sending emails … the high pitched tone, the clicking connection and then boom!
now is a little more seemless; you draw a 2 piece dready as part of a project, it's a sample, you wirelessly connect to some vague signal and you send it round the world for approval -
the receiver, the person you're sending it to, is working somewhere, they not at home either and their home anyway ain't your home anyway; they live somewhere else and work for a company headquartered even farther away.
and y'all talking by email that's meeting somewhere in the middle.
