dready for hong kong ...

                    dready art's 'de blood s line' - 36x13 - limited edition print

i first started playing rugby when i was 9 years old, we played in cow pastures with goal posts, in a cold no ass land far away from the yard bwoy yute I was … and i loved it, loved the bang and the crash and the contest

later they sent me to canada, where the photo below was taken, and i played there … and i loved it … don't get me wrong, am no rugby genius, i play a basic game but i love the strategy in the front row, i love the contest of strength, love the battering and beating and graunching grind of it ...

and i still play and practice every week these so many years later and i still love it …

my cousins played in jamaica - but I never did, i sometimes play touch with the old crocs when i go now - the games' pretty popular there, and growing more and more so as competition and community teams develop - last year dready and friends sponsored the August Town Wolverines who won both the 15's and the 7's in Jamaica.

Jamaica is pretty good at a regional level, in 7's, but lacks the cohesive 'team discipline', the grass roots training of kids and national level coaching to be really good at 15's, but they're coming along ...

the game, in cayman on the other hand is heavily developed and this year the cayman national men's 7's team got invited to the 2016 hong kong 7's … big thing deal for a little country, 'cause HK is the biggest thing in the world of 7's.

7's is one of the best forms of the game,  am way too slow for it, but on the local level is cool; been playing it every year for 18 years, started with Guy's mild mannered janitors way back when, this year the Westin's let me on the pitch for them, because the Flying Jamaicans didn't take off this time round ...

Then the CRFU asked dready if he'd do a drawing to help with fund raising for the national team to go to Hong Kong … 50 numbered prints for the standard dready price of 750$ci each, with the hope of raising the money to help pay for the team's expenses.

what a dream job … i love rugby and i love drawing … the end result is sooooo much cooler in person than it is on this page, soooo much ….

bless!
