Dready art, that moment ...

dready art 'that moment' - adjusted/remarqued print commission - 28x12 on canvas

so below here in the blog you see that I drew a pic called 'pablo takes a little breeze out' and mikey wanted me to adjust it to create a whole new drawing for him based on that print and the photo that had inspired it ...

that moment when pablo sees a chicken ...

an i started to wonder how pablo himself, as a dog, might describe that moment ...

he being a west indian dog, of german descent, with a 'spanish' name and sitting in an italian car ... so ...

"rassclate, ein pinche flugeunfahiger fliegen sache, prego" jamiaco-germanic-spanglitalian ... "rassclate, it's a fucking flightless flying thingy!"

speak to me in tongues ...

dready the palmers beach

dready of 'palmer's beach' - 64x20 - original on canvas

a complete fabrication of an invented beatific beach scene ...

the beach creeps into lives here in cayman 'cause it's idyllic; there are no mountains and streams and no green rolling pastures with meandering stone walls, the woodlands are all scrub and small and damp ...

most of the beauty of cayman is really at the edge looking out ... and there are some lovely spots, places less travelled ... spotts, barkers, batabanoo, south sound, east end, cayman kai ...

i tried to take some elements from the outer edges and put them in here.

dready art the green door ...

dready art - the green door - image

there are reasons for me drawing a nude and none of them are about titillation, the first is this idea of what you can portray with an eye on simplicity ... and how simple the whole thing can be and still portray something cool.

i've pared this image down to very little and yet you can still feel it ... the presence of the house, the style, you might even be able to imagine the kind of house it might be,

you might imagine the woman herself, the person who is looking at her ... I lifted her out of the dready 'itopia-ish' ...

peace and love ...

dready - pablo takes a little breeze out ...

dready s 'pablo takes a little breeze out' - limited edition archival pigment print - 14x14

i like fiat 500 classics ...

they're well cute and cool, and as such they fit right into the dready vernacular ... this is now the 3rd one I've drawn.

auntie betty has always, in my memory, had sausage dogs back home 'a yard' ... and now lexi, my cousin, has taken up the mantle ...

not sure how the I feels about them, but but bit they're unique, and they've been present in my life and so, ya know ...

then madeleine's god-father bought himself a fiat 500, reddish-orange, came all the way from sicily; he called it enzo after the character in 'the deep blue' ...

and he has a sausage dog named pablo.

And he posted this cute picture of pablo, in the window of the car riveted on a chicken and all that together got me going ...

walk good, ciao ...

dready in the press

dready in architects and artisans e-zine

it started with a little article about the new kimpton hotel and thanks to John Doak, the dready drawing i did of the Kimpton, for his wife, ended up as the cover/header art for the story ... and it was a nice story about Cayman and about the hotel

and on the back of that Mike Welton the publisher asked to do a little blurb on dready ...

nicley.
